Trends in Event Website Design 2015
Most
blogs are written in the opinion of the Blogger, and this one will be no
different, and this blog post will also stay current by concentrating on the
“Top Five” trends in event websites, I personally think are a great! I came up
with my list be reading other blog posts on the internet and formulating my
opinion based on the perceived benefit of the trend, not by experimenting with
and utilizing any trend in a web site of my own.
Trend #5:
Responsive
Design (web design trends, n.d.)
Responsive
design allows the website to identify the size of the device in which is
requesting the website. The website then sends the appropriate design size of
website for that devices viewing screen measurement’s in order to provide the
optimal viewing experience for the customer / visitor to the business website.
If your business thinks like its’ customers do, then the website strategy
should succeed, evidence shows that if a customer can’t view a business website
on a mobile device, they’re not likely to visit that website again, or even try
to on a laptop / desk top computer, and this year 2015, the amount of people
surfing the internet on mobile devices will surpass that of the number of
laptop / desk top internet users.
Trend #4:
Videos
and Background Images Full Screen (web and graphc design trends,
n.d.)
These visual experiences draw the viewer into the brand
website and holds the attention of the viewer while giving them a unique
experience, hopefully memorable enough to keep them coming back for multiple
visits. Immersive scenes in the background imagery provide the website viewer
with a feeling of being there, right in that same moment, even though it’s most
likely they’re sitting in their pajamas’ on their couch at home. This trend
started in 2014, but has continued strongly into the first quarter of 2015, and
I expect it to continue as more people use tablets to surf the internet.
Trend #3:
Scrolling
instead of Clicking navigation (modern web design trends, n.d.)
Continuing the transition to tablet and mobile devices,
scrolling is much easier and more efficient then clicking from page to page.
Scrolling is especially helpful when your website is explaining a theme or “telling
a story” as it loads more information and pages faster for the visitor.
Trend #2:
Menus
that slide and / or hide (modern web design trends, n.d.)
Windows 8 gave us this style of menu and
it has gained popularity due to ease of-use, and allowing the content of the
page be the star. The menus can be hidden on the top, bottom, left, or right
hand sides of the screen, for the mobile and tablet market, this is an
innovation that has changed the landscape for the user.
Trend #1:
Minimal
and Simple Design (web design trends, n.d.)
The smaller and less amount of content your website holds,
the faster it will load on your customer’s device, at no extra expense to your
company. In the early quest for responsive design without creating new
software, this technique was deployed in order not to over complex the websites
data. Recently software developments have surged forward and have been able to
allow speed and larger file sizes to load in an efficient manor for the
customer and business a-like. This is a strong trend moving well into 2015, and
will likely not stop for some time.
These trends are interesting and have been developed with
the website user in mind, I feel that thinking about innovation from the customers’
point of view, is the way that business needs to look at things moving forward,
and they will be more successful in the end if they do so.

Strong points about how trends are not related to people using mobile devices, and smaller internet surfing devices (tablets, iPads, etc.). Today, most people will bring a phone or iPad while away to be able to quick surfing such as e-mailing, looking at social media sites rather then bringing full laptops. Everyone wants quick and right at their fingertips, no one wants difficult or complicated websites.
ReplyDeleteWebsites use to be about being bold and grand, rather then being simple and easy access. Many more websites are trying to keep it KISS (keep, it, simple, silly), best way to get volume and future clients.
Michael, awesome blog! Great way to enlighten the class, and keep everyone updated on the upcoming trends of 2015 for blogs.
Trend #1 is my favourite! I love the simplicity in things, it always creates a nice classic look.
ReplyDeleteLindsay said it, KISS!
Trend #4 This sounds like a new and inventive idea! Feeling like you are there but not! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteResponsive design seems like a no-brainier, but I don't know how many sites I've closed because my phone wouldn't open it for me, or because the mobile site was horrible! Also putting in my two cents, I think that trends are great and fun, but if the audience doesn't know how to use basic web, or is a traditional web user, they may find some items like hidden menus and scrolling to navigate difficult and frustrating! I would be aware of what may be, too advanced. Neat ideas Mike! Who knows- maybe I'll use some in the future! The ones I've come across already were also pretty neat.
